Girl, 14 Dies Taking Herbs To Abort Pregnancy

A 14 year teenager Miss Anigta Haledu Ibrahim also known  as Bony has died after taking herbs to terminate a pregnancy.

The Late Anigta Ibrahim who until her death was a student of Government Science School  in  Andaha  Community of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State died in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to Mr Audu Iliya who is an indigene  of the area , the  said  act followed an unwanted pregnancy the deceased  had with her boyfriend whom she  met  in Andaha.

“The incident occurred when she met a guy and started a relationship. She became pregnant and when her parents discovered it, they asked her who was responsible and she revealed to them”.

“Her mother advised her to keep the pregnancy but she didn’t listen. She went ahead and drank native herbs in order to terminate the pregnancy. When she took the herbs, she went straight to the bush and laid there. It was a passerby who saw her and reported the incident to the people in the community.”

“She was then taken to a General Hospital in Gwantu, the headquarters of Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State where she was admitted. Unfortunately , in the early hours of today, she died”.

“The boy who put her in a family way is nowhere to be found. We got some information that he has left the village to Abuja. Meanwhile the burial arrangements is ongoing” Audu said.
