Air Chief, Nigerians Mourn Pioneer Female Combat Pilot, Gokada Founder

The death of the CEO of Gokada, Fahim Saleh and Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot, Tolulope Arotile have thrown many Nigerians into mourning.

Many Nigerians have taken to the microblogging platform to render heartfelt tributes to the memories of Saleh and Arotile who had contributed immensely of their different endeavours.

Saleh, 33, is the founder of the Gokada, motorcycle-hailing company in Lagos, Nigeria, was reportedly murdered in his apartment in New York.

His body was said to be found in the seventh-floor of the apartment dismembered, with head and limbs set apart.

According to the New York Police Department, a chain saw was found in the apartment, which was suspected to have been used by the killer to commit the murder.

It was learnt that Saleh was last seen on Monday afternoon around 1.40pm, based on a CCTV footage, which also showed the tech entrepreneur shared the building’s elevator with his alleged killer.

In another sad development, Tolulope Arotile, the first female combat helicopter pilot, died as result of head injuries sustained in a road traffic accident at NAF Base Kaduna.

“During her short but impactful stay in the Service, late Arotile, contributed significantly to the efforts to rid the North Central States of armed bandits and other criminal elements by flying several combat missions under Operation GAMA AIKI in Minna, Niger State.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall A.M. Sadique led the tributes for Arotile thus:

“@CAS_AMSadique  on behalf officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian staff of the NAF, commiserates with the family of late Flying Officer Arotile over this irreparable loss. We pray that the Almighty God grants her soul eternal rest,” a statement by Nigerian Air Force partly reads.

The deaths of Saleh and Arotile have been greeted with emotional tributes on Twitter.
