Controversial Cosmetic Surgeon Tells Her Story

Controversial female cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Anu Adepoju has said that she carries out an average of three cosmetic surgeries to enhance the beauty and shape of her patients drawn from the United Kingdom, Nigeria and several countries of Africa.

The medical doctor turned cosmetic surgeon who has been in the news over some allegedly botched procedures has also pointed out issues that could complicate the beauty enhancing procedures. She cited underlying health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension among others.

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, Dr. Adepoju also said that the procedure could be painful described as much as birth pains by some women.

Dr. Adepoju is presently under trial by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC over alleged infringements and complaints brought against her by some of her patients.

“It is not always rosy,” she said in an interview on TVC.

“I do about three procedures a day and each procedure takes about one hour thirty minutes to four hours depending on the size of the patient,” she said of the procedures that draws women from across the world.

Talking on the complications that may arise, she said:
“Now the complications that could arise could be contour irregularities so that you will have people say one side is not as big or proportionate (to the other).”

“You have swellings, you have pains, and some people say that it is as painful as giving birth but I don’t think so.”

Warning on the contra-indications to a lady or gentleman uplifting going under the knife for the procedure, she said:

“If you smoke, you should stop smoking, if you have underlying health condition for example diabetes, your blood sugar has to be controlled, if you are hypertensive your blood pressure has to be controlled and you have to give us a review from your cardiologist.”

On the future of cosmetic surgery in Nigeria, she said:

“I see cosmetic surgery being accepted all over Africa because we have so many ladies interested. We have people come from different parts of the world not even Africa alone.

“We have patients come from London, from the US, from Canada,  and other parts of Africa Ghana, Tanzania because they don’t have people who do these procedures, maybe one or two and hardly will you find women in this aspect of medicine.”
