Teacher In Court For Giving Woman Black Eye
A 48-year-old teacher, Babatunde Akindele, on Friday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, for allegedly beating up a woman, Mrs Eketunde Emayeju.
Akindele, who has no fixed address, is facing a count charge of assault but he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on June 19, at 4:45p.m. at Ayinmi Close in Okitipupa.
He said that the defendant beat up the complainant, Mrs Eketunde Emayeju, over a mild disagreement.
The prosecutor submitted that the defendant punched the complainant’s left eye, causing her serious harm.
The prosecutor said the alleged offence contravened Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ondo State, 2006.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Musa Al-Yunus, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300,000 and one surety in like sum.
He added that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and show evidence of one year tax payment to Ondo State Government.
He adjourned the case until July 24 for further hearing.
