The revelation by the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu that some of the recovered vehicles by the commission were auctioned to the Presidential Villa and some other agencies have raised salient questions.

Some Nigerians are asking Magu to name those in the Presidential Villa that benefited.

The call is in the wake of the pressure on the minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio to also name legislators who got contracts from the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

The suspended anti-graft czar in a response to the Justice Ago Salami-led committee probing his affairs, Magu in a letter titled, ‘Re: Alleged Case of Conspiracy, Enrichment, Abuse of Public Office and Other Infractions,’ claimed that some of the recovered vehicles were auctioned and some of the agencies had not made full payment of the vehicles.

The committee had earlier accused Magu of re-looting over N550bn recovered funds and auctioning recovered vehicles and houses to friends and associates.

“On allocation of vehicles to some government agencies through special auction with presidential approval. The beneficiary agencies are: the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of which the valued price is to be debited from their allocation; State House, National Commission for Refugees and Displaced Persons; Federal Inland Revenue Service  and National Directorate of Employment,” Magu said.

This is coming days after the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio claimed that most of the contracts in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, were awarded to members of National Assembly.

Magu’s response on the whereabouts of recovered vehicles has raised questions on alleged corrupt practices perpetuated by officials of the Buhari administration.

Some critics argued that looted funds and recovered vehicles were re-looted by government officials despite the fact that President Buhari rode to power on the wave of fighting corruption.

@ishoot_pixels tweeted: “Recovered vehicles auctioned to Presidential Villa, ministries – Magu. 60% of NDDC contracts awarded to National Assembly members – Akpabio. This set of looters will still ask Nigerians to vote for them come 2023.”

@Zuronye tweeted: “Magu sold seized assets back to Federal Government agencies including “Presidential Villa” Akpabio claimed NDDC contracts were awarded to House members. Hushpuppi was just a distraction, these guys are the real deal.”

Some Nigerians have asked Magu to name those he auctioned the vehicles to in the Presidential Villa, saying that the Presidential Villa is not a ministry.

@Ajienyi tweeted: “Who is presidential villa. Name the person/persons in the presidential villa.”

@benjaminekejune tweeted: “This HushMagu sef ehn. Who the fuck names his child Presidential Villa…?  Wait, wait does he mean he sold siezed assets for Nigeria to David Villa’s child. Please someone should help oh.”
