Despite claiming political equality with Senator Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, it has been alleged that Senator Chris Ngige as governor of Anambra State begged Tinubu for an abandoned state vehicle, a Mercedes  280 Saloon car belonging to the Lagos State Government.

Ngige according to the aide begged Tinubu for the vehicle during a visit to Lagos State when he visited and Tinubu was said to have disclosed that it was a vehicle that was no longer being used. It has reportedly been used by the immediate past military administrators that preceded Tinubu as governor before May 1999.

Ngige had only recently quipped at James Faleke during a hearing of the House of Representatives that he and Faleke’s mentor were mates having served as governors at the same time. He added that besides also being former senators that he had served two terms as minister whereas Tinubu had not been a minister at any time!

However, Mr. Chuks Akunna who served as Chief Press Secretary to Ngige as governor in the period 2003 to 2005 in a series of tweets disclosed that Ngige while visiting Tinubu in 2004 saw an abandoned Mercedes (Beast) and pleaded with Tinubu for it. Tinubu was said to have told him that it was old but Ngige reportedly pleaded that Anambra did not have the kind of money to buy the armoured Mercedes.

The vehicle was eventually shipped to Anambra and eventually taken to Abuja where Ngige used it during visits to the federal capital.

He tweeted thus:

Noting the destitute state of Ngige’s convoy, Akunna said:
