Why We Asked For Buhari’s Resignation – PDP
By Chuks Ekpeneru
Leading opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday came hard on President Muhammadu Buhari urging him to honourably resign as there is nothing on ground to show the presence of a government in the country.
The party said that regrettably that there was no indication of any attempt to redress the frightening situation in the land.
PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus at a media briefing on the state of the nation at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata, House, Abuja, said Nigerians have become helpless and have come to accept and live like citizens of nations without leader and with no direction.
In an address titled, “Nigeria in a free fall, as corruption, insecurity engulfs the Nation”, he said Nigeria is on ventilator gasping for air.
He further lamented that the looting and the re-looting of the nation’s resources are going on under the watch of the “acclaimed anti-corruption President” and no serious reactions is coming from government that prides itself to be fighting corruption.
He noted that reasons for the establishment of commissions such as the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC or the North East Development Commission have been defeated due to corruption.
The Chairman said his party will continue to speak the truth despite the perceived harassment of its members.
“This current government came in 2015 and to me, their number one agenda was to fight corruption. The laws are there, it is for them to enforce it.
“We are also aware that bullion vans were delivered in several areas in our country and the media is not talking. When we were there, the media spoke aloud, let them now speak aloud so that the world will see. Let the security agencies concentrate on resolving our problems including defending our country not deploying them for elections.
“We believe that the PDP will always stand for the truth and nothing but the truth. If they have prosecuted our people, they should prosecute themselves no matter how highly placed,” Secondus said.
