Dogara: Keyamo, Buhari’s Aide, Nigerians React
By Ayodele Oluwafemi
The defection of former Speaker Yakubu Dogara from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressive Congress has raised several talking points, especially permutations of the 2023 politics.
The Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Committee, Mai Mala Buni, on Friday, told State House correspondents that President Muhammadu Buhari is happy to welcome Dogara back to the APC.
Dogara left the APC in the wake of the 2019 presidential election for the Peoples Democratic Party.
His return back to the APC has raised several talking points on the social media.
First, it had been speculated that his return is a grand plan to bring in a Northern Christian politician that would serve as Vice President flag bearer to a Muslim Southern Presidential candidate in 2023.
Meanwhile, the development has also reignited the discourse that the APC and PDP are the same political party, with just nomenclature difference.
Third, social critics also argued that it is unnecessary to engage in political conflict for Nigerian politicians, who are members of the same political family, under the auspices of PDP and APC.
