Rumbles Over APC Visit To Esan Monarchs
By GWG Staff
Rumbles arising from the visit of the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship campaign team to Edo Central Senatorial District continued on Tuesday a day after the meeting with the region’s traditional rulers.
The visit ended with the PDP and the APC alleging different stories about the visit. While the APC alleged that the visit ended well with the governorship candidate receiving royal blessings from the Esan monarchs, the PDP in a statement on Monday alleged that the visit ended on a sour note with the Onojie of Uromi attacking Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
The alleged face-off was against the background of the indefinite suspension slapped on the Onojie of Uromi by Oshiomhole before he left office in 2016. The suspension was lifted after Obaseki came to power.
On Tuesday morning, two lawyers, Dan Osa-Ogbegie and Andrew Enwanta squared off over the issue and again purveying contrary narrations over the issue. They spoke on AIT’s Kakaaki programme.
Meanwhile, a PDP source has vowed to make public the video of the alleged altercation with the Esan monarchs public.

Reacting to the development, Osa-Ogbegie, a member of the APC media committee said that Governor Obaseki was not on ground and had turned to propaganda as a way to win votes.
He accused the PDP of churning out propaganda of a false narrative that happened during what he described as a very successful visit to traditional rulers in Esan land.
“Governor Obaseki is not on ground and the PDP is using propgangda to deceive the people. The kind of crowd we saw in Uromi has never been seen since our father, Anenih passed away,” Osa-Ogbegie said.
“We cannot come to national television to deceive the people. They were received and they even gave them kolanut,” he said.
He was sharply countered by Enwanta who said the trip by the APC was a vain exercise given what he claimed as the injustice done to the people of the area by the Oshiomhole government.
“Since 1999, the PDP has always won the elections in the zone, Senate House of Representatives and all elections in the area had been won by the PDP,” Enwanta said.
According to him the Onojie of Uromi dismissed Oshiomhole and warned the former governor not to visit his palace in Uromi.
Osa-Ogbegie, however, dismissed the claim saying that the visit of the APC delegation was meant to hold centrally at the palace of the Onojie of Igueben.
