How I Escaped – Serial Rape And Murder Suspect
By Ayodele Oluwafemi
Sunday Shodipe, the suspected serial killer who escaped from detention has explained how police negligence allowed him to escape from police detention.
He spoke following his re-arrest by operatives of the Oyo State Police Command on Sunday.
Gbenga Fadeyi, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command made the confirmation in a statement.
This is coming some days after Shodipe was said to have escaped at Mokola police station in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Shodipe was alleged to have been involved in a series of rape and killings that occurred at Akinyele Local Government Area, Oyo State.
The suspected serial killer was earlier arraigned in court, but was remanded at the police custody, before he later escaped on August 8.
Speaking to journalists on how he escaped, he said:
“The new female DPO asked Officer Funsho to allow me to take my bath. He cautioned me not to try to escape but I managed.
“I escaped when I saw him discussing with another person. I climbed the borehole pole and jumped the fence. The people living in the area saw me when I escaped but they did not raise any alarm,” he narrated.
