The hope of Nigeria overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic continued on Sunday with Nigeria reporting the lowest number of new cases in four months. A total of 138 new cases were reported on Sunday across the country in 13 states and the FCT.

The total number of new cases reported across the country was about what Lagos, which was the epicenter of the disease in the country reported few weeks ago.

Remarkably, Lagos on Sunday also reported its lowest number of new cases at 15.

The highest number of new cases came from Plateau which has for the third straight day topped the reporting chart.

Plateau reported 55 new cases followed by Lagos with 15 and Ebonyi 11.

There were, however, two mortalities which brought the total number of deaths in the country to 1,013.

The new cases on Sunday brought the total number of infections in the country to 53,865 out of which 41,513 have been discharged leaving the total number of active COVID-19 cases left in the country at 11,339.
