COVID-19 Curve Goes Down With 216 New Cases

Nigeria recorded 216 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 as the flattened curve of the pandemic in the country began to take a downward turn.

The number of those infected with the virus was put at 10,997 on Wednesday.

The new cases were in 15 states and the FCT with Plateau State as with the past six days recording the highest number of new cases.

There were 59 new cases on the Plateau with Rivers and Abia following with 27 and 20 new cases.

The former epicenter of the pandemic, Lagos recorded 20 new cases indicative of the state’s success in beating down the pandemic.

The new cases on Wednesday brought the total number of cases since the onset of the pandemic in the country to 54,463 with 42,439 so far successfully treated.

Four casualties on Wednesday brought the total number of casualties to 1,027.

The development meant that the number of those still infected with the virus continued to decrease with 10,997 persons infected with the virus as at Wednesday.
