UI Overtakes Covenant As Nigeria’s No. 1 Varsity

The University of Ibadan (UI) has been ranked as Nigeria’s best institution, overtaking Covenant University (CU), based on the 2021 Times Higher Education’s (THE) rankings.

CU was rated as the best in 2019, according to THE’s report of 2019, after topping UI in 2018.

In the latest report released on Wednesday, UI was rated as the best university in Nigeria occupying the 401 – 500 band in the world, followed by Lagos State University (LASU) within 501 – 600 band.

Third on the list is University of Lagos (UNILAG) within 601 – 800 band, Covenant university ranked fourth within 801 – 1000 band.

University of Nigeria (UNN) and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) ranked fifth and sixth within 1000+ band respectively.

Oxford University remains the first position on the global ranking followed by Stanford University and Harvard University in the second and third positions respectively.
