I Didn’t Mock Nigerians With Wedding Pictures -Aisha

Published

on

By Ayodele Oluwafemi

First Lady Aisha Buhari has strongly rebuffed a Daily Trust cartoon that depicted her as insensitive in throwing a lavish wedding for her daughter, Hanan in the face of her husband’s calls for austerity.

The cartoon published by Daily Trust’s Mustapha Bulama was published on the newspaper on Sunday, two days after the wedding between Hanan and Mohammed Turad, a special adviser to Babatunde Fashola, minister of works and housing.

Aisha Buhari posted several pictures of the wedding ceremony on Instagram.

In the cartoon, the first lady was depicted holding the wedding pictures of her daughter, and showing it to Nigerians who are in difficult situation.

Reacting to the cartoon, spokesperson of the first day, Aliyu Abdullahi told BBC Pidgin that the cartoon was unfair, claiming that the wedding ceremony was not insensitive to the plight of Nigerians.

Abdullahi said, “The cartoon of Mustapha Bulama trending is very unfair because the wedding wasn’t in anyway insensitive to what Nigerians are going through. In fact, because of that, Mrs Aisha Buhari held a meeting with her staff and told us she wants the wedding to be low key with no massive celebrations.

“The photo she posted of the couple for social media was to thank well-wishers and not to rub it on Nigerian faces.”

Some Twitter users also reacted to the cartoon.

Published

By

Popular Nigerian cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, famously known as Bobrisky, has asked Nigerians to stop dragging popular movie star, Femi Adebay0, for his emergence as the winner of the best dressed female category at the Ajakaju movie premiere.

GWG.ng reports that his comment comes just as reports suggest that the Nigeria Police had invited the movie star for questioning over issues surrounding the ‘Best-Dressed’ female award to the controversial cross-dresser.

Femi’s colleague, Dayo Amusa, made this known during a live Instagram session while addressing the controversies over the award, which has generated an online fight.

According to Dayo, Femi Adebayo was summonsed by the police and Muslim community for promoting LGBTQ in Nigeria.

However, exonerating Femi Adebayo, Bobrisky explained that the movie star did not hand-pick him as the award category winner.

Making this disclosure while speaking on an Instagram live session, Bobrisky revealed that three female judges were responsible for his emergence as the award category winner, adding that Femi Adeboye was only called upon to announce the winner.

“Number one, Uncle Femi did to pick the winner, they already had judges that were meant to pick the winner for the best-dressed female for the theme of the movie, so Uncle Femi was just to come there and announce the winner, he was not the one that picked the winner, he was not part of the judges, the judges were females, like about three females, i think two of them left after we finished watching the movie at the cinema so they were calling; ah where are these judges, they now saw uncle Femi, they said uncle Femi take the microphone and announce the winner,” Bobrisky revealed.

She said she has no regrets turning down their offers because she at least has her dignity and fans who adore her.

“There was a time in the industry when everyone wanted to sleep with me and it was like, ‘Yemi, if you don’t do this, you won’t have that. Today men are the reason I don’t win awards in Nigeria,” WithInNigeria quoted her as saying.
