How Obaseki Won Against Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Sunday afternoon declared Godwin Obaseki, the incumbent and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as the winner of the governorship election in Edo State.
Obaseki according to the INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, who announced the total result of the election polled 307,955 votes as against the 223,619 votes polled by his closest rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Obaseki beat the odds set against him by his erstwhile political godfather, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by aligning with other political stakeholders to project himself towards an epic electoral victory.
Obaseki won all six Local Government Areas in Edo South and Edo Central including Ize-Iyamu’s Local Government Area and pulled out only one of the six Local Government Areas in Edo North which is the base of Oshiomhole.
Ize-Iyamu won five of the Local Government Areas in the North.
