Sex-Toy Shop Assault: Senator Slammed With N50m

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fined Elisha Abbo, senator representing Adamawa north the sum of N50 million to be paid to Osimibibra Warmate as compensation for assaulting her.

In 2019, Abbo was seen in a viral video assaulting Warmate in a sex toy shop located in Abuja, a development that sparked outrage on the social media.

The senator was arraigned before a Magistrate court in Zuba on a one-count charge which was dismissed by the Magistrate.

The charge was dismissed by the court despite the video evidence and apology tendered by Abbo.

Warmate, the assaulted lady, proceeded to the Federal High Court  to file a civil right suit against Abbo.

On Monday, the judge found the senator guilty and ordered him to pay the sum of N50million to Warmate as damages.

Confirming the verdict, Lugard Tare-Otu, a lawyer who was in the legal team of Warmate took to Twitter to announce the court judgement.

Tare-Otu tweeted: “I was a leading member of the team, with @nellymacaroni which filed the Court papers in a civil suit between Ms. Warmate v. Senator Elisha Abbo, for the assault of Ms. Warmate at an adult shop in Abuja. Excited to announce, Court slammed damages of N50m against Senator Abbo today.”
