Minister Asks Naira Marley To Stop Anti-SARS March

Minister of sports and youth development, Sunday Dare has urged the singer, Naira Marley not to embark on the planned protest against police brutality.

The protest is scheduled for Tuesday.

The minister made this known while replying to a tweet from the controversial musician.

Following the intense criticisms that have trailed the activities of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a unit of Nigeria Police Force, Naira Marley, on Monday, called for a peaceful protest, scheduled for tomorrow by 9:00am with 2nd toll gate, Lagos proposed as starting point.

“So 9am tomorrow we move 2nd toll gate Peaceful protest No vandalism, no fights and no stealing,” Naira Marley tweeted.

Responding, the sports minister noted that the issues on police brutality are currently being addressed at the “highest level of government.”

Dare tweeted, “I urge you and other youth not to embark upon any protest. Your grievances are being addressed at the highest level of government. As the Minister in charge of youth I know this is an issue that must be tackled. Government is doing just that.”
