Missing Kid: Pastor, 5 Church Workers Get Life Jail

Samuel Babatude, popularly known as Sotitobire, general Overseer of Sotitobire Miracle Center, Akure, alongside five others have been sentenced to life imprisonment, over the kidnap of a one-year-old boy, Gold Kolawole.

Gold Kolawole was declared missing in November 2019, after his mother dropped him in the children section of the church.

Following the rumour that Babatude had used the boy for rituals, aggrieved youths in Akure burnt down the church.

The cleric and five others  was later charged on six counts before a magistrates’ court, but the case was transferred to the State High Court.

They were then remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Center, Akure,

Delivering the judgement, on Tuesday, Justice Olusegun Odusola found the pastor and five others, who were church workers guilty of two counts of kidnapping and aiding and abetting to kidnap “based on the circumstantial evidence” presented by the prosecution.

Justice Odusola sentenced the cleric and the five others on life imprisonment.

The missing boy, Gold has not been seen till date.
