A video showing a police officer participating in the ongoing #EndSARS protest, somewhere in Lagos, has appeared on social media.

In the viral video, the man, who was robed in the vest of the Nigeria Police Force, lamented the manner his brother was maltreated by operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), when he was illegally arrested

In the video, the man, speaking Pidgin English, said even though he was a policeman, his brother was arrested and he was made to pay heavily for bail by operatives of SARS.

In the video, the man said, “God go punish them (referring to SARS), they arrested my brother, for me wey I be officer, do you know how much I paid?”

The #EndSARS protest has become a nationwide protest with international recognition, as many Nigerian youths have taken to the streets across the country to demand for the disbandment of SARS, a police unit set up to fight armed robbery and other violent crimes but now dented by various allegations of impropriety and impunity.

Although, the Federal Government has promised to reform the unit, the promise did not pacify the aggrieved youths, who describe the promise as an audio promise given past promises by the government to reform the unit.
