Pregnant Lady Held Among Robbery Gang In Benin

A pregnant woman, Jumoke Akanbieme who was used by an armed robbery gang to trap down motorists has been nabbed by the police in Benin.

Ms. Akanbieme who has confessed to have been part of the armed robbery gang, it was learnt was in the practice of pretending to be in labour and by that attracting helpful motorists who would turn into the victims of the robbery gang.

The pregnant lady was arrested alongside two other members of the gang, Osagiede Izevbokun and Godfrey Okonide.

Their arrest followed the snatching of a vehicle along the Murtala Mohammed Way, after the owner had stopped to help Ms. Akanbieme who was feigning labour pains.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the incident, said, “So many cars have been snatched by the syndicate in the same manner.”

Ms. Akanbieme said she was lured into the crime by her partner, who is currently on the run.
