Tinubu Splashes N50m On Victims Of Katsina Market Fire

By Emmanuel Adigwe

All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu has condemned the Tuesday night carnage at Lekki Tollgate even as he disclosed that he was fingered as a sponsor of the protests.

The former Lagos State governor also denied claims in some sections of the polity that he was the owner of the Lekki Concession Company which manages the Lekki Toll Gate.

The National Leader of the APC spoke in an interview with Channels Television on Wednesday morning, hours after the attack on unarmed protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate.

Condemning the use of live bullets, he said:
“Why will they use live bullets? I will never, never be part of any carnage. I will never be part of that.”

“We are about 13 to 14 days into the protests now. Before now, I was being accused and reported to the Presidency that I was behind the protests, that I was a sponsor of the protests.”

He said that on his part, he advised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to heed to the demands of the protesters.

“That was why he (Sanwo-Olu) set up the Judicial Commission of Inquiry. The governor has gone to the home of one of the victims to appeal to them.

“He has put N200m together as part of restitution and compensation for those attacked.”

Denying ownership of the Lekki Concession Company, he said:

“I have no dime, no kobo investment in the tollgate,” he said.
