Uzodinma: Those Who Stole My Mandate Behind Imo Protest

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has accused those he claimed he retrieved his once ‘stolen mandate’ from as those who instigated the recent protests in the state under the cover of #EndSARS.

Speaking to political stakeholders in the state the governor affirmed that the destruction carried out in the state under the banner of #EndSARS was politically motivated.

Uzodinma was confirmed as governor of the state last January after the Supreme Court nullified the election which brought his predecessor, Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to office in May, 2019. Uzodinma who flew the banner of the All Progressives Congress, APC was fourth in the election result as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

He has since been tagged as Supreme Court governor by his political traducers.

But speaking to stakeholders cut across political lines at the Government House late on Monday, he said:

“When we reclaimed our stolen mandate some people vowed that they will make the state ungovernable trying to achieve their aim through many wicked means.

“Now they are sponsoring hoodlums to destroy our state in the name of protests.

“The purpose of meeting is to let you know that our youths protested and made five demands and our government accepted them.

“And also to let you know that during the protests enemies of this state who were sacked for illegally occupying the seat of power were the ones who sponsored the hoodlums to destroy our state. Those who destroyed things were not peaceful Imo protesters. They are sponsored hoodlums.

“And that there is need to collectively as stakeholders come together to change the orientation of our youths and for them to toe the path of commitment and to let you know that our government is opened for good ideas for the benefits of all of us.”

Among the stakeholders present were Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu who praised the governor’s leadership of the state.

“Your government is doing well and all of us can see it. Uzodimma is one who worked with me and I know his strength. Look at what he said it is a statement of what has happened.”

Also present were Minister of state for Education, Emeka Nwajuba, former Imo deputy governors of Eze Madumere, Douglas Acholonu, Jude Agbaso, the member representing Okigwe South federal constituency, Chike Okafor, member representing Okigwe North federal constituency, Miriam Onuoha, among others.

Conspicuously absent were the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Rochas Okorocha and Senator Ifeany Ararume.
