Parallel Kwara APC Congresses

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has pulled back the move by his supporters to sack the chairman of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Bashir Bolarinwa.

The governor in a tersely worded statement early on Friday reaffirmed “Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB) as the chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State.”

He thus urged all those aggrieved with the state leadership of the party to seek dialogue towards resolving their differences towards ensuring the sustenance of his agenda for the state.

A statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Rafiu Ajakaye said the “Governor, who is the leader of the party in the state, asserts that BOB remains the chairman of the APC in Kwara State.”

The early morning statement followed mutterings when a group believed to be aligned to the governor tried to read out a communique sacking Bolarinwa during a stakeholders’ meeting held at Kwara Hotel.

The governor and Bolarinwa were both present. The move, however, led to a near riot as supporters of BOB pounced on the man reading the communique leading to a bedlam.

Bolarinwa is an associate of the minister of information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who was universally acknowledged as the leader of the party before the emergence of the governor in 2019.

Since then there have been repeated moves to remove Bolarinwa as chairman but to no avail.
