Obaseki Shocks Edo Politicians, Puts 3-Month Embargo On Appointments

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has put a three-month holdup in the appointment of political appointees into his new government.
The governor has, however, announced the appointment of Osarodion Ogie as Secretary to the State Government.
In a statement, Governor Obaseki said Ogie would be the only political appointee in his government in the meantime.
He added that all other appointments would be deferred to the first week of February, 2021.
Obaseki had in a Channels Television interview last Thursday disclosed that he would cut down on political appointees in government while at the same time creating room for more appointments into the state’s civil service.
