Former Nigerian External Affairs Minister, Bolaji Akinyemi, says that the Joe Biden administration may sanction Nigeria for human rights abuses if he eventually gets into office.

GWG had earlier reported that Joe Parkinson, Africa Bureau Chief for the Wall Street Journal and a Pulitzer Prize finalist, had stated that Joe Biden who had earlier endorsed the candidacy of President Buhari when he was a vice president to President Obama, will sanction Nigeria for the shooting of #EndSARS protesters by soldiers at the Lekki toll gate.

Reinforcing this narrative, Bolaji Akinyemi, who is also a professor of political science in an exclusive interview with The Punch stated that there will be sanctions and the possibility of Nigeria getting the ammunition already paid for in  a Joe Biden’s presidency is slim.

He said: “Yes, I can see accounts of prominent members of the Nigerian administration being frozen, whether they are in the US or Dubai, UAE. I can see the Biden administration refusing to sell weapons to Nigeria. Don’t forget that we paid for, I think, about 20 air force planes. I can see the Biden administration refusing to deliver them. At the end of the day, it is the people who suffer.”

GWG writes that President Donald Trump has stated that Joe Biden won the election although it was massively rigged.
