PDP Sacks Umahi’s Brother, Dissolves Ebonyi Excos
By Emmanuel Aziken
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Tuesday rebuffed Dave Umahi saying that he left the party for purely personal reasons just as it at the same time sacked the governor’s younger brother, Deacon Aust from his office as chairman of the party’s caretaker committee for the Southeast.
The party in two different terse statements issued by its national spokesman, Kola Ologbondinyan said that Umahi’s reasons for leaving the PDP would in due season become manifest just as it at the same time dissolved the party’s structures in Ebonyi and the Southeast executive headed by the governor’s brother.
The PDP said:
“The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says that the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi, left our party for personal reasons, which Nigerians will come to know at the fullness of time.
“Our party thanks Governor Umahi for services rendered to the people of Ebonyi state, as the State Chairman of Ebonyi PDP (2003 to 2007); deputy governor of Ebonyi state (2007 to 2015) and two term governor of Ebonyi (2015 till date), all elected on the platform of the PDP.
“As we wish Governor Umahi all the best in his adventure, we call on the members of our party to remain calm and committed to the ideals of our party as no individual is bigger than the PDP.
PDP Dissolves Ebonyi Exco, Southeast Zonal Caretaker
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP also rose from a crucial meeting on Tuesday and announced the dissolution of the ward, local government and state executive committees of the Ebonyi state chapter of the party forthwith.
The NWC has also dissolved the Southeast Zonal Caretaker Committee of the party.
“These decisions are pursuant to the powers conferred on the NWC by the PDP Constitution,” Ologbondinyan said.
