Ezekwesili insists Buhari's border closure was bad

By Emmanuel Adigwe

The special assistant to President Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari neither hates the Igbo nor is he opposed to enabling women prove their capacity in high office.

Ahmad was reacting to the recent disclosures by Tunde Bakare that former Minister of Education, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili was suggested to be Buhari’s running mate in 2011 but turned down the proposal.

GWG recalls that Pastor Bakare had said that it was after Ezekwesili turned down the request that he, Bakare accepted the offer.

Reacting to this development, Ahmad took to his Twitter account saying that contrary to reports, President Buhari is not tribalistic and he also believes in women’s capabilities.

He wrote: “Those who have been painting the President black and keep pushing a narrative that he hates Igbo and also doesn’t believe in women’s capacity are now telling us a different story, the story is that as far back as 2011, he wanted an Igbo and a woman to be his VP, but she REJECTED.”
