ASUU laments over members

Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ASUU)  has described a trending statement announcing the suspension of its ongoing strike as fake .

A statement  with the signature of  the ASUU President , Prof Biodun Ogunyemi  without a letterhead  which has gone viral had announced the suspension of the over seven months strike embarked by ASUU.

The statement titled “Notice of suspension of ASUU indefinite strike action of all member universities across Nigeria” was dated 18th November 2020.

The purported statement said the suspension of the strike followed a meeting between the federal government and ASUU on Monday and urged all universities to resume on Monday , 23rd November,  2020.

But ASUU  via its official Twitter handle  marked the statement as fake and insisted that  government has not met its demands, noting that the resolution of the eight-month strike was not in sight.

In a series of tweets made on Wednesday, the union revealed that it will resume negotiations with the Federal Government on Friday.
