Trump Concedes, Approves Transition To Biden
Donald Trump has given the go ahead for transition to Joe Biden to commence, as he accepted his fate handed down by voters in the last presidential election.
He nevertheless vowed to pursue his legal challenges.
His decision followed the certification of the result of the state of Michigan which went the way of his Democratic Party rival, Biden.
Following the certification, the president directed the General Services Administration, GSA, the key government agency involved in preparing for the inauguration to do what needs to be done.
The Biden team immediately welcomed the decision as it readied itself more for the transition with the naming of key appointees into the new administration.
“Today’s decision is a needed step to begin tackling the challenges facing our nation, including getting the pandemic under control and our economy back on track,” said its statement.
“This final decision is a definitive administrative action to formally begin the transition process with federal agencies.”
Biden is naming Anthony Blinken as secretary of state and John Kerry as climate envoy, while Janet Yellen is being tipped to be the first female US treasury secretary.
