Political leaders are good for the progress and development of every democratic society but there is a qualitative distinction between good leadership, and exceptional leadership .

Although, one may not be able to immediately articulate the extent to which one is different from the other, a good leader inspires hope.

However, exceptional leaders are generally more successful, their message and performance have more impact, their plans are better developed and implemented, and their legacies long lasting.

These leaders achieve more effective results, which helps perpetuate their extraordinary work and qualities.

The answer to: “What makes a leader exceptional” is today the hallmark of the tremendous achievements of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

Politics as it were, is a sure means to power and power emanates from the people. The main component of democracy is the “people”.  The people being the centerpiece of political participation, has remained in the consciousness of Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege who has held the people’s mandate generously entrusted to him in the highest esteem since his overwhelming election as Senator of the 9th Assembly.

The foregoing analogy may have informed British political scholar, Dr. John Locke to assert; “power is trust which a leader holds on behalf of a people”. The trouble with Nigeria as the legendary writer and philosopher, Chinua Achebe puts it in his political pamphlet published in 1983 is political leadership. This is so because, many political leaders do not conceive politics as a veritable medium of garnering power for the good and wellbeing of the people – a narrative that Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has changed with his people focused change agenda through the provision of core democratic dividends to better the lots of the people.

As evidently showcased, the Deputy President of the Senate leads the ranks of political leaders whose politics is motivated by lofty ideas and ideals of selfless service practiced within the context of the social contract theory. These few, but unique leader’s acts of socio-welfarism is a creation of the consciousness that they owe the electorates allegiance of implementing the social contract pact.

Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is an illustration of a rare gem and refined progressive in whom great learning and character are well blended in today’s Nigeria political history.

The always cheerful and accessible Senator and Deputy President of the Senate, is a man with genuine and profound desire of humanising our world and making it a better place to live and thrive through purposeful legislative representation. He inspires hope and he is hope to many.

The narrative of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege reveals marvellous performances of his laudable achievements as a social entrepreneur,  experienced lawyer,  visionary administrator and brilliant parliamentarian.

The economic empowerment and development of the people and towns of Delta Central Senatorial District, nay, Delta State,  never once departed from the humane heart of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. As a public functionary of almost two decades he has helped, and given succour to thousands of people across ethnic divide. He has granted scholarship to indigent students, and financially empowered countless men, women and youths in establishing small and medium scale business enterprises. DSP Ovie Omo-Agege has also empowered countless qualified Deltans/Nigerians through the facilitation of gainful employments in both State and Federal Agencies such as; Nigeria Police Force, The Armed Forces, Public Service and corporate organisations across the nation.

Elected and inaugurated for legislative business in 2019, his mind immediately went to work, mapping out strategies to implement his campaign promises.

He hit the ground running. His priorities were and are well articulated, which includes rural electrification as manifested recently in the ongoing community light up projects, roads construction, human capital development,  socio-economic empowerment, health,  education, water and other developmental projects that are essential in making better, the lives of the average citizenry which he considers, a primary course dear to his heart.

True to his campaign promises, he has made commendable achievements in terms of delivering of the dividends of democracy and implementation of his campaign promises .

In spite of the foregoing constituency achievements that are visible to all and sundry, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has given a brilliant account of himself as a true advocate and representative of the fears, hopes and aspirations of his people as far as lawmaking is concerned.

Highly cerebral, Senator Omo-Agege has initiated very important bills of public importance in the Red Chambers of the Nigerian Senate to wit; Bill to establish seperate tribunals for pre-election matters and election petitions, Bill to allow married women contest for office in state other than birth, Bill to limit jurisdiction of State Courts on pre-election cases for party officials, Bill for minimum appoitment of women & youths into cabinent and ambassadorial positions amongst others geared towards the socio-economic transformation of our dear nation Nigeria.

Suffice to state; If legislative and democratic ideals are about the good and wellbeing of the people in whom power is derived, then there is no doubt Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is a worthy ambassador of his people. He is consistent in expanding the frontiers of the progressives ideals of the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress.

By and large, DSP Ovie Omo-Agege remains an exceptional leader and legislator per excellence.
