12 Of 32 Prostitutes Nabbed In Kano’s Tomato Market HIV +Ve

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested about 32 prostitutes at Tomato Market in Badume village, Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State, Northwest Nigeria.

According to Muhammad Harun Ibn Sina, the State Hisbah Commandant-General, Hisbah men made the arrest in collaboration with officials of other security agencies in the state.

Ibn Sina revealed that out of the 32 women prostitutes, 12 have tested positive for HIV.

He disclosed that seven of those who tested positive for HIV were already aware of their status while five of them did not know their status.

The Commandant-General explained that the apprehended prostitutes are from Katsina, Zamfara, Edo, Enugu, Cross River, Jigawa, Adamawa, Kano states and Cameroon Republic.

Ibn Sina added that their male collaborators were also arrested, noting that they were handed over to National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for drugs related offences.
