Insecurity: Osinbajo Begs Nigerians To Remain Calm

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has appealed to Nigerians to remain calm and not to panic  over the prevailing security challenges confronting the nation, assuring  that his administration would continue to  provide  security of life and property to its citizens.

Osinbajo stated this on Tuesday while commissioning the Nasarawa State Infectious Diseases, Diagnosis and Research Centre ( NASIDDRC) in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

The Vice-President expressed worry  over the  incessant killing of innocent citizens by terrorists group and bandits in the  country, saying government have deployed additional measures to address insecurity in the country.

According to him , the country in recent time was faced with the economic hardships occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic which disrupted economic activities bringing more hardships on the people as well as  other parts of the world.

In his words,  he said ” In this few months, COVID-19 infection and some issues of security have  bedeviled the country  but I assure  the people of this country that with  kind of leadership we have, the dawn of this country is coming and our greatness which is hidden by the cloud will clear and we will see for ourselves the great nation that we are,” he said.

He commended the  Governor of the state, Engr  Abdullahi Sule for completing the NASIDDRC in Lafia, the  project initiated by his predecessor ,adding that the land mark will go way in addressing the health needs of the people.

Earlier in his remark, Governor Sule said that  the establishment of the centre  would address the perennial diagnosis and management challenges of infectious diseases  such as lassa fever, yellow fever, measles, cerebrospinal meningitis, as well as the current Covid-19 pandemic which  were previously  conducted outside.
