Former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Taskforce Team, Abulrasheed Maina was on Friday brought to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and promptly ordered to be remanded in jail till the end of his trial.

His appearance before Justice Okon Abang followed his extradition from Niger Republic by INTERPOL on Thursday.

He had eloped and failed to appear in court where he is facing trial over a N2 billion money laundering charge brought against him by the EFCC.

The suspect sat in between two EFCC operatives as the trial commenced.

After he jumped bail, his surety, Senator Ali Ndume, was imprisoned by the court but later granted bail after spending five days in detention.

As he appeared on Friday, the EFCC counsel sought for a remand order.

Responding, Justice Abang said, “The defendant is already on bench warrant having jumped bail.

“So he shall be remanded in correctional centre pending the conclusion of the trial.”
