By GWG Staff
Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has fended off questions on his prospects in the 2023 presidential election saying that it is too early to talk about it.
Speaking with reporters on Friday on the fringes of an event organized by the Commonwealth Community Choir in Abuja, President Jonathan at the end of a series of questions on the situation in Mali and the spate of insecurity in Nigeria was asked if he would be a candidate in the 2023 presidential election.
Jonathan dressed in the Niger Delta regalia responded thus:
“It is too early to talk about that.” His refusal to rule out the bid GWG reports could also mean that the suggestion has not been dismissed by him.
GWG had reported efforts by some key stakeholders in the North to woo Jonathan into the 2023 contest.
The rumours have also been fired by his open romance with leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC and the gulf between him and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in his native Bayelsa State especially in the last days of the Serikae Dickson administration.
The former president in his encounter with the reporters also asked Nigerians to further support the administration in its effort to tackle the spate of insecurity in the country.
