Insecurity: Buhari To Appear Before National Assembly Thursday
President Muhammadu Buhari is to address a joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday his personal assistant on social media, Lauretta Onochie said on Monday evening.
The House of Representatives had last Tuesday in a unanimous resolution asked President Buhari to appear before it to address it on the security challenges facing the nation.
It is the first time in the history of the Fourth Republic that a president would respond to a summon in that light.
However, in moving to address the joint session the presidency may have moved to mellow the force of the resolution in giving the appearance as one done out of the president’s volition.
The Senate had on its part also last Tuesday requested the president to sack his service chiefs. It was the third time that the Senate would issue such a resolution.
Disclosing the president’s appearance before the National Assembly, Onochie said:
