Thugs Disrupt Dialogue On Insecurity In Northern Nigeria

Senator Shehu Sani has condemned the disruption of a security review meeting initiated by the Coalation of Northern Groups.

The CNG which had in the past been supportive of the Muhammadu Buhari administration had lately been critical of the administration’s scorecard on security matters affecting the north.

The group had convened a meeting for Kaduna on Monday to develop a module for Broad Based Community Acton for Self Defence, Deeper Engagement and Enhanced Synergy between the 19 northern states.

However, the meeting scheduled for Monday, 11.00 a.m. was quickly disrupted by armed thugs who brandished machetes and other weapons.

The thugs reportedly breached the tight security at the Arewa House, Kaduna venue of the meeting and chased away those who had gathered for the meeting.

Among those who were present were security experts, religious leaders, civil society stakeholders among others.
