Elections: New Voices That Can’t Be Ignored Are Rising In Nigeria’s Political Terrain - Soyinka

Popular Nigerian playwright and poet, Wole Soyinka, has come under fire after he refused to comment on the administration of President Buhari purportedly to keep his sanity.

In a video that surfaced online on Tuesday, the Nobel Laureate winner was heard saying that it was best for his sanity not to talk about the administration of President Buhari.

He said: “I think it is best for my sanity just to avoid that overall question. I can take bits and pieces of Nigeria’s present predicament but I think for one’s sense of balance, one must forget the existence of the Buhari administration.”

This development sparked reactions on social media as many Nigerians put Soyinka under fire given that he berated the previous administration of President Jonathan

The playwright once berated the former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan and also participated in the Occupy Nigeria protest which greatly discredited the previous administration.

GWG had earlier reported that the essayist had earlier written a letter saying that Nigeria is divided under the present administration of President Buhari  but it appears that many Nigerians have forgotten about that letter as they are calling him out for refusing to speak about the ills of the present administration.
