Paul Pogba fired Manchester United to the top of the English premiership on Tuesday evening with a stunning goal over Burnley at Turf Moor.

The French international’s moment of brilliance was enough to send the Red Devils to the summit of the Premier League log on Tuesday night.

Prior to the game, Manchester United needed a point to overtake Liverpool as league leaders. This result sends them three points clear at the top of the table.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s outfit were on the front foot for the opening moments of the game as Burnley repelled all attacks thrown at them. Bruno Fernandes let fly in the 16th minute to trigger a routine save from Nick Pope in Burnley’s goal post.

Harry Maguire’s joy was short-lived when his towering header went into the net, however, his goal did not stand as he was adjudged to have fouled Erik Pieters. A breathtaking save by Nick Pope from Anthony Martial’s curler kept the sides level before the break.

After the restart, Edinson Cavani fluffed his lines, following a fine square play from Martial. Be that as it may, Pogba’s never say die attitude in the 71st minute set the stadium alight. He volleyed in a Marcus Rashford cross from the right to leave Burnley’s defense undone and marveled. That goal was how Pogba fired Manchester United to the top of the premiership for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s days as manager.

This is the first time Manchester United have ended the day top of the Premier League table, having played as many as 17 games, since the final day of their title-winning campaign in 2012-13 under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Since Sir Ferguson’s exit, Manchester United have performed under the glory of its legendary longtime coach and been unable to sit on top of the premiership ladder until now.
