President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a new set of service chiefs, his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina announced on his twitter handle on Tuesday.

The development followed the sack of the service chiefs he appointed at the beginning of his first term.

Adesina wrote:

Adesina wrote, “PMB appoints new Service Chiefs. Maj Gen LEO Irabor, CDS (Chief of Defence Staff),  Gen I Attahiru, Army, Rear Adm AZ Gambo, Navy, AVM IO Amao, Air Force.

“He congratulates outgoing Service Chiefs on efforts to bring enduring peace to the country.”

The development follows the outcry of Nigerians to the meltdown in the security situation in the country which had tested the capacities of the former set of service chiefs.

The outgoing service chiefs include General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin (Chief of Defence Staff); Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (Chief of Army Staff); Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (Chief of Naval Staff); and Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff).
