15 Die, 1303 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Nigeria

1303 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria emerged on Tuesday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has announced.

15 persons were also reported dead on Tuesday according to the statistics obtained by GWG.

The 1303 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria brought the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 124,299 cases since the outbreak of the pandemic.

In the same period, 99,276 persons have been successfully treated and discharged.

The 15 deaths on Tuesday brought the total number of mortalities in the country to 1522.

The NCDC also reported discharges saying “Our discharges today include 542 community recoveries in Lagos State, 103 in Plateau State and 22 in Kwara State managed in line with guidelines.”

The 1303 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria were generated in 25 states and the FCT.

Lagos State produced the highest number of new cases with 478 cases, the FCT with 211 cases and Nasarawa had 83 cases.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has said that the government was exploring opportunities for mutual collaborations with Canada on COVID-19 response and other health care interventions.

Abayomi disclosed this through a series of tweets on his official Twitter account @ProfAkinAbayomi on Tuesday.

The commissioner said that the collaboration was discussed during a courtesy visit of the Acting High Commissioner of Canada, Mr Nicolas Simard, to his office.

According to him, the meeting which is at the instance of the Canadian High Commission, is aimed at exploring opportunities for mutual collaborations with Lagos government and its health ministry on COVID-19 response and other healthcare interventions.

He highlighted efforts on the adoption of Home-based Care Strategy for managing asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 cases, as well as upscaling of sources of oxygen at treatment centres.
