Imo Govt Orders Enforcement Of COVID-19 Protocols In Markets
The Imo State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Comrade Simon Ebegbulem has admonished market executives over their lackadaisical attitude towards the protection of peace and the well-being of the traders in the markets.
His warning came after those the government described as some “unscrupulous elements” stormed a major market in the state to stir unrest and at the same time breaking the COVID-19 protocols put in place.
The Commissioner warned the market executives to take their jobs seriously to prevent a recurrence of this type of ruckus in the market place as it is their job to ensure the peace and safety of market goers.
He further ordered the Imo State Amalgamated Markets and Traders Association (ISAMATA) to immediately enforce the COVID-19 safety protocols in all markets in Imo State.
This enforcement would include the checking of temperatures of anyone entering the market, the wearing of face mask by both buyers and sellers, social distancing, and a sign post at the entrance of every market in the state.
