Sheffield United registered a massive, shocking and remarkable 2-1 victory over title contenders Manchester United, at Old Trafford on Wednesday night. Prior to the game, almost the full length of the table separated both sides. Manchester United were second and Sheffield United were last on the table.

From the onset, Manchester United took the game to Sheffield United as Marcus Rashford’s 10th minute attempt sparked the game into life. But, it would be the visitors who would draw first blood as Kean Bryan headed in from a John Fleck corner kick for his first Premier League goal in the 23rd minute.

Manchester United went in search of the equalizer as Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial shot wide before the interval.

After the restart, David McGoldrick used his outside foot to play his shot wide from inside the United box in the 56th minute. Afterwards, Marcus Rashford shot straight at Aaron Ramsdale before Harry Maguire’s bullet header from Alex Telles’ corner kick drew the Red Devils level in the 64th minute.

Ten minutes later, Axel Tuanzebe had a night to forget as Oliver Burke’s shot deflected wickedly off his body to go into the net.

Alex Telles, Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani weren’t able to spoil the show for Sheffield as the Blades held on to record their first victory at Old Trafford since December, 1973 and claimed maximum points. In contrast, it was a blip for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s men and valuable points dropped at home.
