Pastor Enoch Adeboye has dipped himself into the trending #SilhouetteChallenge in which ladies are featured dancing naked in shadows under red lights allowing viewers to see silhouettes of their naked bodies. He along the way touched on the controversial issue of abstaining from sex as a factor in spiritual growth.

In a strong bid to dissuade his many spiritual children, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God warned that there are many things which may not look like overt sins, but actually strengthen the appetite of the flesh to the point of weakening the spirituality of the individuals.

Remarkably, the revered Man of God mentioned refusing to abstain from food and sex as among indulgences that may not be overtly sinful but contribute to bringing down the spiritual quality of an individual.

His intervention on the #SilhouetteChallenge follows the trend among some youths who may have taken to it as a fun but which the revered cleric is saying is not helpful. It was also an opportunity for the man of God to speak of how abstaining from sex and food contribute to spirtual growth.

Taking to his twitter handle, Pastor Adeboye said:

“What are the things that the flesh usually tells you to do? They are listed in Galatians 5:19-21 as you must have earlier read in today’s Bible text. You think that you can view a few pictures or videos on social media where someone is almost nude and it is okay.”

“You are quenching the Spirit. That little window you give to indulge the flesh will strengthen it such that you would find yourself going back to those pictures/videos after that time. The Bible is very clear – don’t ever do anything that will quench the Spirit. Never!”

Speaking on the controversial issue of abstaining from sex, he said:

“Do you know that there are some things that are not sins, but can strengthen the flesh to the point of eventually quenching the Spirit? Examples include not fasting (Psalm 35:13), not being able to abstain from sex even with your legally wedded spouse (1 Corinthians 7:5),”

What are the things that the flesh usually tells you to do? They are listed in Galatians 5:19-21 as you must have earlier read in today’s Bible text.
