Celebrity Nigerian disc jockey, Florence Otedola who is popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has dragged Afeare Isreal, an aide to popular singer Davido to court for libel and defamation over claims she didn’t pay Zlatan Ibile for their collaboration.
Following the controversy that ensued after Isreal DMW post on why Zlatan Ibile blocked DJ Cuppy on WhatsApp and Instagram, the 28-year-old singer and disc jockey revealed her plans to go to court in a tweet on Monday.
Singer, Zlatan Ibile shocked Nigerians last week after he claimed he did not know who DJ Cuppy was, after being asked why he blocked her on WhatsApp. Isreal DMW, who happens to be Davido’s personal logistics manager, went on to allege that the reason for Zlatan’s reaction was because DJ Cuppy failed to give Zlatan any monetary proceeds following their ‘Gelato’ music collaboration.
Isreal also revealed that Cuppy took the Zlatan to Abuja for her fundraising where she made billions of Naira but refused to pay him a dime. He also added that the accommodations and feeding expenses during Zlatan’s stay in Abuja were also paid by the singer including the expenses of his team.
DJ Cuppy, however, has now vehemently stated that there was no breach of contract between her and Zlatan regarding their song according to her lawyers.
For the record… There have been no breaches of my contractual agreement regarding the song #Gelato as confirmed by lawyers… However, as @IsrealDMW publicly inaccurately declared I owe an artist money, I am suing him for libel and defamation!
