When Israel Rebelled Against Moses Again

And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.

Numbers 20:2.

The situation that the congregation found itself of no water is similar to what their fathers faced when they first came out of Egypt about 38 years ago.

In Exodus 17:1 we are toĺd: “And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron,”

At that time God told Moses to speak to the rock and water did come out!

How they were supplied through the years one cannot say for now but the same situation of the basic need of life came to trouble them again.

Now observe; what ever temptation, trial or trouble facing you today is not new. Our fathers in the faith (Congregation) were faced with the same type of temptation.

Paul echoed that fact very well when he said: “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;”  1 Corinthians 10:13.

Whether it is water, money or whatever that come from God, a period of dryness may come from time to time.

Some in the congregation may have been old enough to remember how God intervened 38 years earlier. But what did they do?

Beloved, may God grant us grace to learn from the example of the fathers and mothers in faith that we may not slip twice into the same error.

Good Day
