Omisore Finally Defects To APC
Senator Iyiola Omisore, at one time one of the leading lights of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has formally defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Senator Omisore, a former deputy governor of Osun State and two time senator was a stalwart of the PDP and leaders of the party in the Southwest.
Senator Omisore, however, contested the Osun State governorship election in 2019 on the platform of the Social Democratic Party, SDP after he was edged out in the bid for the PDP governorship ticket.
In the first round of the contest that had Senator Ademola Adeleke as the PDP candidate and Gboyega Oyetola as the APC candidate, the election was inconclusive.
Oyetola, however, won after a secret deal with the APC. Apart from reportedly nominating some commissioners into the APC government, Omisore according to some sources has also been a major force in the Oyetola government.
GWG gathered that the rosy relationship between the former senator and Oyetola is one of the issues that has separated Oyetola and his predecessor, Rauf Aregbesola.
On Monday, accompanied by the incumbent deputy governor Benedict Alabi, Omisore picked up the APC membership card on Monday at his polling unit in ward 6, Moore, Ile-Ife.
