Former Zamfara governor Ahmad Yarima has revalidated his All Progressives Party (APC) membership in Gusau despite intrigues by some of his political rivals who allegedly plotted to sideline him from the party.

GWG reports that Yarima had insisted on revalidating his membership in Gusau the state capital, however, the party resources for the unit were said to have been unavailable as he was asked to go to his hometown in Bakura for the registration.

His critics had alleged that other party leaders in the state including the party leader in the state and immediate past governor, Abdulazziz Yari went to their hometowns to register and would not oblige Yarima his request to be registered in Gusau.

His allies had alleged that the unavailability of the registration materials in the areas around Yarima’s Gusau residence was deliberate and aimed at denying him registration.

However, Yarima was able to register on Wednesday.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after revalidating his membership, Yarima urged the APC National Registration Committee led by Gov. Sani Bello of Niger to ensure that no member of the party was sidelined in the exercise.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari and APC National Caretaker Committee for initiating the exercise which would help boost the chance of the party in future elections in the country.

Yarima is the only major member of the party to have given his indication to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the APC.

In making his declaration, Yarima had declaimed reports of an agreement on power shift between the South and North as he affirmed that as a principal factor in the merger that he was not aware of any agreement on rotation.

Yarima was governor of Zamfara State between 1999 and 2007 and had the legacy as the governor that pioneered full implementation of Sharia in Nigeria when he was governor.
