Five people were killed and 13 others wounded in two attacks on Thursday by unidentified gunmen against a public transport bus in central Mali.
The attack took place near the village of Tillé, in the Koro circle, and at the Parou bridge between Bankass and Bandiagara, the Malian Press Agency (AMAP) reported.
The attack against the vehicle, coming from Bamako to Koro, occurred at the same time that a position of the vigilante group of the Dogon ethnic group “Dan Nan Ambassagou” was the target of fire, according to AMAP.
The attack left three people dead and eight injured, three of them seriously and one vehicle burnt to the ground.
In the afternoon, at around 1 p.m., on the same stretch of road, a transport vehicle coming from Mopti in central Mali was attacked at the Parou bridge by unidentified gunmen, killing two people and injuring five, including two seriously.
In both cases, a joint team from the gendarmerie and the police went to the scene to assist the injured, all of whom were taken to the Bandiagara Reference Health Centre and the serious cases referred to the Sominé Dolo hospital in Sevaré, near the town of Mopti.
