Senator Rochas Okorocha the penultimate governor of Imo State has been arrested, administration officials in Owerri revealed on Sunday.
The arrest followed the showdown earlier on Sunday when the former governor allegedly led a team to unseal the Royal Palm Estate earlier sealed by the Hope Uzodinma administration.
Sources in Owerri said that Okorocha was arrested after state authroities informed the police of a trespass leading to a faceoff between Okorocha and the police. One source said that at least ten cartridges were picked up at the scene.
The former governor according to sources was as at Sunday evening in the custody of the State CID, Owerri and is to be arraigned on Monday for trespass.
Calls to Sam Onwumeodo, Okorocha’s spokesman were not successful as at press time.
