Ganduje’s Aide Who Criticised Buhari Arrested
Salihu Tanko Yakasai, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s media aide who criticsied the handling of the country’s security by the Muhammadu Buhari regime has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS.
His father, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai confirmed the arrest on Saturday.
The arrest followed Salihu’s criticism on Friday morning of the kidnap of more than 300 girls from Government Girls Secondary School, Talata Mafara in Zamfara State.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported that Salihu had in a series of tweets chided the All Progressives Congress, APC over its failure to secure the country leading to the spate of insecurity in the country.
Though still Ganduje’s aide, he had criticised Buhari and the APC on Twitter saying:
“Clearly, we as APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number 1 duty we were elected to do which is to secure lives & properties. Not a single day goes by without some sort of insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign.”
“Each time another tragedy happens, we lament, condemn, create hashtag, the govt pretends to do something, no concrete steps to prevent reoccurrence, and then we repeat the process. To what end? Where are those saddled with the responsibility?
“Just last week it was #freekagaraboys, today we have a new hashtag #RescueJangebeGirls, who knows tomorrow what hashtag we will come up with? Perhaps one for ourselves when we get caught up in one of these daring attacks. This is sad & heartbreaking, I feel helpless & hopeless.”
The arrest of the same Ganduje’s aide comes after he also criticised the way Buhari responded to the #EndSARS protest last October.
His father, Tanko Yakasai, who served as Special Adviser to President Shehu Shagari on National Assembly Matters confirmed the arrest in an interview with Saturday Punch.
He said his son was arrested on his way to the barbing salon.
“Yes, Salihu is with the security operatives since yesterday (Friday). He was arrested on his way to a barbing saloon. But I cannot confirm to you whether he is here in Kano or somewhere else.”
Salihu who goes with the twitter handle @dawisu is very energetic on social media and had similarly chided President Muhammadu Buhari’s response to the #EndSARS protest.
He was suspended from office following that development but recalled after a few weeks before this development.
